PayPal

What is the PayPal service?

PayPal is a service that enables you to send money electronically without revealing your personal financial information. PayPal acts like a digital wallet in which you can securely store your preferred payment sources, such as your checking account number. When you want to send money, you can do so from this digital wallet; you don’t have to type your billing information every time.

How does PayPal work through your Funds Transfer service?

It’s easy to send money electronically through PayPal using our Funds Transfer service. Simply log in to your account with us from your computer or mobile device and navigate to “My Accounts > Funds Transfer > Make a Transfer.” Provide the payment amount along with the recipient’s name and email address or mobile phone number. Money is taken from your account with us. PayPal notifies the recipient that the money is available. To access the money, recipients sign in to their PayPal accounts. Recipients without PayPal accounts can quickly sign up for one to receive their money.

Can anyone use this service?

You must have an account with us in order to use our Funds Transfer service to send money through PayPal.

Do I need to have a PayPal account in order to send money through PayPal using your Funds Transfer service?

No, you don’t need a PayPal account in order to send money. You just need to have a deposit account with us.

Does the person I’m sending money to need to have an account with you?

No, the person receiving money doesn’t need to have an account with us. The recipient will need to have a PayPal account, however, or sign up for one if one does not already exist, in order to access the money.

Does the person I’m sending money to need to have a PayPal account?

You can send money to almost anyone anywhere around the globe, anytime – even to someone without a PayPal account. However, to access the money, the recipient must have a PayPal account. When PayPal notifies the recipient that money has been sent, it will include simple instructions on how to open a PayPal account. That way, the recipient can quickly open an account if one does not already exist.

How do recipients actually get the money?

PayPal account holders receive money directly into their PayPal accounts. If recipients do not have a PayPal account, they simply open one and link it with an email address or mobile phone number. Then, when recipients log in to PayPal, they can spend the money online at any merchant that accepts PayPal, transfer the money to an account at another financial institution (while the funds will be transferred right away, it may take up to three business days for the funds to post to the recipient’s other account), or request a check from PayPal (a fee may apply).

How, specifically, do I transfer money using PayPal on your site?

Once you have an account with us, follow these steps to transfer money using PayPal:

  • Log in to your account and navigate to “My Accounts > Funds Transfer > Make a Transfer.”
  • In the “From” dropdown box, click on the deposit account from which you want to transfer funds.
  • In the “To” dropdown box, click on “Add PayPal Account.”
  • On the “Add PayPal Account” screen, enter the requested information:
    • Sender Email (your email address)
    • Send Method (select one):
      • Phone
      • Email

Important: Check with recipients before transferring funds to confirm which mobile phone number or email address they use for their PayPal account.

    • Recipient Mobile Phone (if “Phone” is selected) – must be a valid 10-digit U.S. number. In order for PayPal to notify the recipient of the payment by automatic text message, the phone must have SMS access; otherwise, you will need to notify the recipient directly.
    • Recipient Email (if “Email” is selected)
    • Recipient First Name
    • Recipient Last Name
    • Payment Type (select one):
      • Person-to-Person (preferred payment method when sending to friends or family; it’s free for you and the recipient)
      • Goods and Services (free for you; the recipient (the business) pays any applicable fee)
    • Message (maximum of 140 characters)
  • Click “Continue.”
  • Enter the dollar amount you want to transfer. Transfers are limited to $500 per day.
  • Click “One Time > Now.” (PayPal transfers may not be sent “One Time > Later” or on a recurring schedule.)
  • Click “Continue.”
  • Read the “Review Transfer Request” screen to confirm that your transfer details are accurate. Read and accept the disclosures. Click “Submit.”
  • Once your transaction has been submitted, a confirmation page will be displayed that contains the Transfer ID number for your records.

Where can I find a record of my transfers?

To view details of your transfers, go to the “Transfer History” page (“My Accounts > Funds Transfer > Transfer History”). Please note that it may take up to five minutes for transfers to be reflected. If you don’t see a transfer you just made, wait a few minutes and refresh your screen; your transfer will appear. Your transfer details will be available on your “Transfer History” page for up to 90 days. After (and during) this time, they will be reflected on your periodic account statements.

How quickly will the PayPal transfer be made?

Funds will be withdrawn from your deposit account immediately and transferred right away to the recipient’s PayPal account.

How soon will the recipient receive the money?

The recipient will be notified right away that he/she has received money. Recipients without PayPal accounts will be prompted to set one up. Once the account setup is complete, the funds will appear.

Will PayPal recipients be able to see my account information?

No, PayPal recipients will only see that you have sent them money. Your financial information with us is secure. PayPal uses the highest levels of data encryption available and meets or exceeds all Payment Card Industry compliance standards for data protection.

What happens to unclaimed payments?

If the recipient’s email address or mobile phone number is not associated with a PayPal account and the recipient does not link it to an existing PayPal account or open a new PayPal account within 30 days, PayPal will return the unclaimed payment to us. We will then process a payment return and return the money to your account with us.

What happens if I send money, but my intended recipient doesn’t get it?

If the email address or mobile phone number you entered for the recipient is registered to a PayPal account, the funds will be transferred immediately. You are responsible for entering the correct email address or mobile phone number for the recipient. If you have typed in an incorrect email address or mobile phone number, you may contact Client Experienece, and we will try to help you recover the funds from PayPal. Once the payment has been claimed on the PayPal system, it may not be possible to recover the amount of the transfer.

What happens if a recipient rejects a PayPal transfer?

Funds will automatically be returned to you, if they are not accepted by the recipient.

I know I can send money through PayPal using your Funds Transfer service. Can I also receive PayPal transfers to my account with you?

Only outbound PayPal transfers may be made through our Funds Transfer service. We do not accept inbound PayPal transfers to your account(s) with us.

Will I be charged a fee for using the PayPal service?

No. The “Person-to-Person” option (the preferred payment method when sending to friends or family) is free for you and the recipient. The “Goods and Services” option is free for you; the recipient (the business) pays any applicable fee.
