PayPal Instant Account Creation

What is PayPal Instant Account Creation?

PayPal Instant Account Creation allows deposit account holders with us to open a personal PayPal account quickly and easily.

Can anyone use PayPal Instant Account Creation?

You must have an individual or joint deposit account (a checking or savings account) with us in order to use this service. Trust and business deposit accounts are not eligible for the PayPal Instant Account Creation service.

What type of PayPal account can I open?

You can only open a personal PayPal account. Business PayPal accounts may not be opened with this tool.

What’s different about the Instant Account Creation process?

The Instant Account Creation process is more efficient than going to PayPal directly to create an account, because you only need to enter several pieces of information as part of the account-opening process.

We will send PayPal your name, address, phone number, email address and bank account number, as well as our bank routing number. (If you do not want us to share that information, you should not use PayPal Instant Account Creation.) Since your bank account with us has already been verified, there is no delay in opening your PayPal account.

Once your PayPal account has been established, you may immediately transfer funds from your bank account with us to your PayPal account. You may use your new PayPal account to make secure payments over the Internet, without risk to your personal banking information.

How do I create a PayPal account using Instant Account Creation?

Your new PayPal account is just a few steps away:

  • Log in to your bank account and navigate to our home page by clicking on the “Home” icon on the top tool bar.
  • Click on the PayPal icon at the lower left of the home page.
  • It will take you to our “Open a PayPal Account” page, where you will:
    • Select your funding source account (you may select more than one account)
Note: When you make a purchase or otherwise send a payment through PayPal, PayPal will first draw from the available funds in your PayPal account. If your PayPal balance is not high enough to cover the transaction, PayPal will then debit the bank account that you have designated as a funding source to cover any remaining amount.
    • Enter/verify the email address you want to use as your PayPal account name and for contact purposes
Note: If you wish to change your default email address for purposes of your PayPal account, simply re-enter and verify your new email address. An email address is required for the Instant Account Creation process; you may not use a mobile phone number.
    • Read and accept PayPal’s Terms & Conditions
  • Follow the instructions for being redirected to PayPal’s website and:
    • Create a password for your PayPal account
    • Select and answer security questions for your PayPal account
    • Read and agree to PayPal’s agreements and policies
  • PayPal will send you an email confirming your new account, along with a link to activate it.
  • You may now use your PayPal account!

Can I add additional funding sources to my PayPal account?

Yes. If you want to add additional accounts as funding sources after your PayPal account has been established, log on to PayPal’s site (not our banking site) and make the change there.

When will PayPal withdraw money from my bank account?

When you make a purchase or otherwise send a payment through PayPal, PayPal will first draw from the available funds in your PayPal account. If your PayPal balance is not high enough to cover the transaction, PayPal will then debit the bank account that you have designated as a funding source to cover any remaining amount.

I have more than one bank account designated as a funding source for PayPal. If PayPal needs to debit my bank account to cover a transaction, from which account will it take the money?

PayPal will draw money from the bank account you first designated as a funding source. If you want to confirm or change your primary funding source once your PayPal account has been established, log on to PayPal’s site (not our banking site) and access your account there.

Can I use different email addresses for my PayPal account and my bank account?

Yes. Your default email address for purposes of PayPal Instant Account Creation is the email address we have on file for your bank account. If you would rather use a different email address for your PayPal account, simply enter and verify that address during the registration process.

Do I have to use an email address for my PayPal account name, or can I use my mobile phone number instead?

An email address is required for the Instant Account Creation process. You may not use a mobile phone number.

Will my banking information remain secure?

Yes. PayPal uses the highest levels of data encryption available and meets or exceeds all Payment Card Industry compliance standards for data protection. PayPal does not share funding information with merchants or other payment recipients.

Will I be charged for using the PayPal Instant Account Creation service?

No. There is no fee to set up a PayPal account with our PayPal Instant Account Creation service.

Once my PayPal account has been established, should I contact the Bank or PayPal with any questions about or problems with the service?

Your PayPal account relationship is solely between you and PayPal. For any questions about your PayPal account, please contact PayPal directly.

Where can I find information about sending money through PayPal using your Funds Transfer service?

Navigate to "Help > PayPal."
